August 202001 August 2020 And so another month starts, and as lock downs re-start in parts of Australia we are thankful for the ability to still get out and enjoy the scenery. Where we are staying in inland and the beaches a short 20 minute drive, we can often see the clouds building over the coast, and so when they form nicely we take the drive to either Lights Beach or the rocky headland near the river mouth in Denmark itself.
My second favourite rock at Lights Beach.
Light in the sky reflecting beautifully on the sand as sunset nears. 19 August 2020 Where have the last 18 days gone? Well, for us it has disappeared quietly and with no real fanfare. We have been looking around the area, pruning more grape vines and generally living. We have enjoyed a visit from Rosemary and Greg, one of our daughters and son in laws, we have enjoyed roast meats cooked on the BBQ, more cheese and wine, and photography, including a visit to the beach for sunrise (the video on this will be live at 3.30pm (Western Australian time) on Saturday 22nd August 2020 here.
Looking East towards Denmark from Lights Beach just after sunrise.
Just one of the scenes at Lights Beach before the sun came over the dune behind us. 27 August 2020 Well, as August 2020 hurtles to a close it's time to recap the last few weeks. The grape pruning continues with most of it complete, and, bud burst and new growth on some varieties commencing. The wet and windy weather has begun to abate and we have even seem the thermometer hitting the low 20 degrees Celsius, requiring a change out of beanie, gum boots and jumper to shorts, shirts and boots mid morning. Some new photography equipment has arrived and been tested, and some additional gear arriving and waiting to be used, and there may just be a new photography video on all of this coming to the youtube channel shortly. Talking of photography, we took a drive to the Stirling Ranges again, looking to see the re growth after the fires, to find some orchids, and of course to get some shots of the area, some of which are below.
Canola in full bloom with a cloud covered Stirling Ranges in the background.
One of many views throughout the Stirling's National Park.
Looking North from the Central Lookout.
Rain squalls passing through the Stirling's.
Cloud over one of the many Stirling Range Peaks.
A rain squall approaching the scene and forming a rainbow as it moves across the countryside.
Something different, but still near the Stirling Ranges. So as this month comes to a close and what is expected to be our final month here in Denmark before we head off to work the grain season, we are looking forward to more and more warmer weather, and to getting some suntan onto our legs.
Mark Twain once said "...years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do that by the things you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - and so we will. |
